The Consummate Hair Stylist
“Your hair does much more than reflect your personality. It defines you.”
– Antwon Jackson

Chic... Bold... Elegant... Seductive...

Just a few words to describe Antwon Jackson’s work. There’s no doubt that he can do it all — with his discriminating eye, with talent that stems from sheer devotion to embellishing clients’ good looks, and with years of daily salon experience.
When it comes to exquisitely styled hair, Antwon is New York’s newest “hair star,” and he is making his presence felt with a fresh approach to styling.

Home Training

Antwon was born and raised in North Carolina. He remembers precisely when he decided to become a stylist. As a teen, he saw a TV commercial that changed his life -- a Vidal Sasson commercial. “Here was this man holding a rich, wonderful cascade of hair with an intense sheen,” Antwon recalls. “And he was saying, ‘If you don’t look good, we don’t look good.’ Well, that was it for me. I was mesmerized, and I knew right then and there what I wanted to do for my life.”

He started learning his craft immediately, and practicing on women throughout the neighborhood.

He earned a cosmetology degree in Durham, and underwent more training in Chicago, New York, Florida, Atlanta, and Virginia – wherever the best classes were offered and the toughest styling jobs were to be found. Among his greatest early influences was John Atchison, who taught Antwon all about precision cuts. Back in North Carolina, women truly appreciated Antwon’s expertise. He worked as a salon stylist for two decades at Inflight Salon in Durham. He also become the top stylist at North Carolina Fashion Week. One year, he was called upon to style every model in the show.

The Talk of New York

Since his arrival, Antwon has made an indelible impression on New York’s hair scene. His talent was immediately noted, and he is now a regular hairstylist to TV talk show queen Wendy Williams. A fast-rising star of live television, Antwon is now adding print and film to his repertoire.

He possesses that rare talent demanded by Wendy and her guests and by other celebrities in New York, California and places in-between — he has a unique ability to draw out a person’s essence and create a style that’s perfectly suited to the individual. As he styles, he often transforms a mundane look into a captivating one — which takes more than a knack with a comb, a blow dryer and a flat-iron. It takes an aptitude for discerning how a client’s hair can actually redefine who she is.

My Favorite Things

Antwon’s specialties? Blow outs, extensions, wigs.

A few of his favorite things? Silky, free-flowing hair that simple, neat, caressably soft and superbly styled. "And I love curls. Curls are always sexy,” he says, adding, “My work is edgy upon request.”

As Antwon sees it, his work doesn't end with the last stroke of the brush or comb: "I make sure to educate my clients on how to maintain healthy hair as well as the hairstyle.”

Today, Antwon is breaking into print, video and runway in a big way with major bookings this season.

If his work is any indication of where he is heading, the future of hair styling on both coasts belongs to Antwon Jackson.
